selections for the book club

Anyone attending the book club is welcome to make suggestions for a future book selection. So if you have a favorite book that you think the club would be interested in reading and discussing, let us know and we will certainly consider it!

Book Club Kits

If you, or your club or organization, have an established book club (or wish to start one), the Albany Public Library can help. As Albany's Book Clubs finishes their own selections, we are making available Book Club Kits to support other reading groups. The Kits contain multiple copies of the titles that have been read by the Library's Book Clubs (ranging from 8 - 15 copies). These Kits may be checked out for 8 weeks allowing plenty of time for other area groups to have their own fun without the expense of purchasing their own materials. The Book Club Kit bags are located on the first floor of the main library on the bottom shelves of the new book area--look for the green bags. Or look in the catalog's advanced search under kits.

Albany Book Discussion Group

The purpose of this book group is to read a variety of books and share your thoughts about the readings. So if you love books and enjoy talking about them, you are in the right place!
You may find that you do not like all the books that are chosen for discussion. You may disagree with something that another member of the group has said. It’s okay to disagree, but please be polite and respectful of others whose opinions differ from your own.
Please only one person speak at a time, and be mindful of the moderator’s suggestions.
It is important to keep on topic, but feel free to introduce information that is relevant to the discussion (historical facts, biographical details, book background, related authors or topics, etc.)
Everyone is encouraged to participate in the discussions.
